May 8th set for Crosswalk Pedestrian Safety Event Watch Channel 4 news this Sunday! Possible special DIMENSION, this Sunday night, February 6th 10:00 p.m. on Pedestrian Crosswalk Safety. ---------------meeting notes from 2/02/00 New Event date set- May 8th, Monday, to help people do final preparations and hand out flyers on the parkway over the weekend Two Locations: Time 3:30 - 6:30 pm------- --------------Planning meeting schedule set for next 3 months: All meetings until further notice scheduled at Brackett Park building 7-9 pm, 2728 39th Ave South. March 22nd 2000- planned Roundtable discussion with Safewalk St. Paul group at the Transit for Livable Communites office: 624 Selby Ave in St. Paul (TLC) Schedule: Feb 15th Tuesday 7-9 pm Brackett- workgroups/committee meeting ______________ New ideas: 1.get school safety patrols involved to use their flags to stop cars for pedestrians at the crosswalk intersections- call them "Crossing Guards" 2. Ask for donation of yellow flashing warning lights and /or large warning sign to slow traffic down before intersections each way ( contact Eric Johnson 612 277-4753 special traffic sign company) 3. Schedule Mpls speed wagon for that day. 4. Provide flyer inserts for neighborhood churches on Sunday May 7th 5. Attend River Gorge meeting to invite participation/coordination 6. Ask city council members to declare May 8th Pedestrian Safety Day- move it through the council. 7. Flyer 2 blocks or more each side of intersection the week before 8. Invite Seward community participation 9. Get event on block club leaders agenda's 10. Organize video presentations one night on safewalk St. Paul.. review media coverage and angles. 11. Time is short- we need MORE people involved NOW- to get things done and to form working groups
